Learn to Crochet with Ray’s Room
Learn to crochet in a relaxed, welcoming environment where you’ll leave with new skills, beautiful handmade projects and a community of crafty friends cheering you on.
Whether you’ve never picked up a crochet hook before or you’ve had a few attempts and never quite got the hang of it, this friendly six-week course will guide you from complete beginner to confident crocheter.
Over six enjoyable weeks we’ll build your skills step by step, giving you plenty of time to practise, ask questions and grow in confidence. By the end of the course you’ll have completed two projects to keep, understand how to read crochet patterns and feel ready to continue your crochet journey with confidence.
What You’ll Learn
Throughout the course we’ll cover:
- Holding your hook and yarn
- Starting your crochet
- Tension and stitch placement
- Essential crochet stitches
- Working in rows and rounds
- Colour changes
- Fastening off and sewing in ends
- Edgings
- Reading crochet patterns and abbreviations
- Building the confidence to tackle your own future projects
I always teach beginners through a granny square project which gradually grows into your very own blanket. It’s the perfect way to learn the fundamentals of crochet while naturally building confidence, improving your tension and practising your stitches.
We’ll also explore amigurumi-style crochet, learning the tighter double crochet techniques used to create toys, dolls and other shaped projects.
Throughout the course there’s always time for individual support too. Whether you’re struggling with a stitch, need help understanding a pattern or simply want a little extra guidance, I’ll be there to help every step of the way.
More Than Just a Crochet Course
At Ray’s Room, crafting is about so much more than learning a new skill.
These sessions are a chance to slow down, enjoy some creative time for yourself and switch off from the busyness of everyday life. They’re a place to relax, chat, laugh, be inspired and enjoy the mindful benefits that creativity can bring.
One of my favourite things about these courses is watching friendships naturally grow over the six weeks. Many of our students continue crafting together through Chat & Craft sessions, workshops and the Ray’s Room community long after the course has finished.
